Controlling the Build Up Of Sediments Through An Inspection Channel
An inspection channel is a linear access channel that will give you better control of your maintenance and can easily be created with our Rainsmart crates thanks to their modular design. The channel once set up can then be used to catch and flush any sediment or debris that enters the tank.
What do I need to create the inspection channel?
This is where the modular nature of the Rainsmart system comes into its own. No complicated components are needed, just swap the standard plates for open inspection plates and wrap the channel that is created in its own layer of geotextile membrane. With the Ellipse system, no other changes are needed. On the STM Heavy system, the two inner columns must be used in the widest position and face in the same direction the channel open. The inner columns are still needed to maintain the structural integrity of the system.
For ease, we offer individual inspection crates in both Ellipse and 65 Tonne Heavy as well as in shallow, double and triple depths offering complete flexibility.
Extreme Versatility
The inspection row is typically designed to capture "first flush" sediments and offers the versatility to be sized dependent on the number of crates in the structure. Ordinarily, you would have one complete run across the whole length of the tank with an inspection/access chamber at each end.
Using Geotextile Membrane
The row should be surrounded by geotextile membrane and should've connected to a closely located inspection chamber for easy linear access to the entire length of the soakaway system.
The fabric wrapped channels allow for settling and filtration of sediment which cannot pass through the membrane.
The tough geotextile fabric is designed to separate the main system protecting it during high impact pressure jetting which can be carried out via the inspection channels in order to clean out unwanted debris.
