Sports Field Drainage

Sports Field Drainage

Sports fields consume millions of litres of water each year and our systems help by providing removal but allowing for storage underground and re-use when it's needed.

Utilise a soakaway system to provide effective water removal from the playing surface while creating a water table that promotes sustained healthy growth of turf while allowing immediate use of the pitch after extreme weather.

By storing water for future irrigation you can dramatically reduce the need for fresh water. The water collected will be of good enough quality to allow immediate pumping without the need for a filter.

Utilising Sports Field Drainage

  1. Rainwater settles on the playing surface, as the soil is permeable it seeps downwards.
  2. Under the playing surface a layer of 30mm drainage cell is positioned which collects water from the ground around it
  3. Via a path of least resistance water travels through the cell network to strategically positioned tanks made up of geocellular attenuation units
  4. These units are wrapped on the bottom and sides with an impermeable membrane (with protective fleece). The top of the system should just be covered by a geotextile membrane (the protective fleece)
  5. Groundwater is held in this tank, it can then be pumped out and connected to a sprinkler system where it can be used to water the whole playing surface
  6. An overflow pipe can then be connected to an overflow tank system or mains network
